Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 June 2026
By accessing Spectre you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. Nature of the service
Spectre is a decision-support tool for law-enforcement officers. It surfaces patterns, hotspots and risk scores from historical and current case data. Spectre does not replace investigator judgement, statutory authority, or court-admissible evidence procedures.
2. Eligibility & account
Use is restricted to (a) authorised law-enforcement officers under a participating agency, and (b) hackathon evaluators of KSP Datathon 2026. You must maintain accurate badge, rank, and station information and protect your credentials, including completing 2FA.
3. Acceptable use
- No use to surveil individuals outside an authorised investigation.
- No bulk export of personal data outside the platform without your agency's written authorisation.
- No reverse engineering or circumvention of access controls (penal under IT Act 2000, section 66).
- Outputs may be shared internally but not published externally without your agency's communications approval.
4. Synthetic demo data
The public demo of Spectre is populated with synthetic Karnataka-styled FIR data. Any resemblance of specific FIR numbers, names, or addresses to real persons or incidents is coincidental.
5. AI-generated content
Insight briefings, recommendations and risk scores are generated by AI models acting on aggregated features. They are probabilistic, must be interpreted by a qualified officer, and must not be cited as primary evidence in a court of law.
6. Availability & SLA
The demo is provided on a best-effort, no-SLA basis. Production deployments are governed by a separate Master Services Agreement with the contracting agency.
7. Intellectual property
Spectre branding, source code and AI prompts are owned by the Spectre team. Officer-entered notes and case folders remain the property of the issuing agency.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Spectre and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
9. Termination
We may suspend access for breach of these terms, for security reasons, or upon withdrawal of the agency's authorisation. You may delete your demo account from /dashboard/profile at any time.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Exclusive jurisdiction lies with the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
